H & H Painting Company, Inc. originated in 1932 as Bosma Painting Co., started by Remko Bosma. Remko Bosma immigrated to the United States in 1913 from the Netherlands where he learned the painting trade through extensive schooling and hands-on training.
In the late 1930's, Remko Bosma was joined in business by his son-in-law, Chester Haan. Chester Haan spent time in the field painting & supervising until the mid 1950's when he assumed a full-time office role to help mange a rapid growth in business.
Curtis Haan, the son of Chester Haan, worked for the company painting during his summers while attending high school and then college. He joined the company full-time in 1961 to help his father run the business after graduating from Kalamazoo College. In 1962, Remko Bosma retired, leaving the business to his son-in-law, Chester.
In 1971, H & H Painting Company was incorporated as a merit shop by Warren and Curtis Haan. In 1982, Bosma Painting Company ceased operations as a union shop and sold its assets to H & H Painting Company under the leadership and presidency of Curtis Haan, who maintained Bosma's customer base through the transition.
Chad Sisco, who earned a management degree from Western Michigan University and had extensive knowledge in the paint coatings industry, was hired in 1998 by Curtis Haan as a Project Manager to assist with the rapid growth of the company and to begin a business succession plan.
Curtis Haan retired on January 1st, 2008 and the assets of H & H Painting were acquired by Chad Sisco, who is the current owner and president of the company.
